12/30/07 Update # 1 ( 1:45 AM )

As you can see by looking at the Radar Image above, Shower's and Thunderstorms still continue to develope across South Carolina. Overnight tonight as the area of Low Pressure continues to push off to the Northeast, shower's will begin to spread across the Foothills and Piedmont. The shower's that any locations recieves tonight will be light, with rainfall amounts of only about 0.10" to 0.20" across the area. By later this morning the area of Low Pressure will begin to pull moisture not only out of the ( GOM ) Gulf of Mexico but as well of the Atlantic. The heaviest of the precipitation will be along the Coastal Plains and the Sandhills, of North Carolina where some area's could pick up over 2" inch's of rain. Back across the Foothills and Piedmont is looks like rainfall amounts by the time this system is all said and done will be around 0.50" to 1.50" with the Higher amounts if you live down toward the Southern part of the Piedmont of North Carolina. I will continue to monitor this system and will periodically post updates on Rainfall amounts and any changes that may happen. So keep checking back later throughout the day for more updates.

Rain/Sleet on Christmas

Shower's will continue to push through the area during the overnight hours. In most of the viewing area the precipitation will fall in the form of Rain, but area's along the I-40 corridor could see a Wintry Mix by morning. There has already been reports of sleet falling in area's around Hickory and Morganton. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from portions of the North Carolina Mountains from Midnight until 9:00am on 12/26/2007. I haven't really had time to post much because of the holiday's but I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's. Light Rain shower's have been moving through the region much of the night. Despite the fact that this isn't a drought buster, we are atleast getting some rain across much of the Southeast. The system that is bringing the rain to the area, caused Severe Weather along the Gulf Coast states yesterday. The rainfall amounts from this system haven't been much, but here are some of the the total's from Midnight until 6:30am.
Hickory - 0.16"
